Transmission Upgrades

Quite a few of our engines are intended to work with the factory Transmissions. The higher the Horsepower / Torque you get into the more likelihood you will need to upgrade or Replace your Transmission.

Some upgrades are available through most transmission suppliers. For instance Automatic Transmissions can put a shift kit in for stronger shifts.  Sometimes it just pays to transplant another Transmission altogether. The C4 Trans has been around a long time and has stood the test of time. A lot of the early Mustangs had them. The C6 automatic works for more heavy vehicles and trucks.  The AOD Trans. is nice for the cruiser with the extra overdrive gear.  Some mount locations may need to be moved to accommodate this trans. in a early Mustang.

 With a Manual Transmission, the original 4 speed top loaders hold up exceptionally well. They can be rebuilt as well or easily go over to a 5 speed.

  As with anything the weakest link is always going to go first. So lets say if you have an original engine putting out 175 HP and you are moving up to a 400 + HP street beast. It would be a safe bet that your Transmission needs to be upgraded.

 Different Gear Ratios can also have a huge affect on low end power. Ultimately you have control over the gas pedal so you control the longevity of the drivetrain.
